Free guided tours of the Preserve, 55 Palmetto Bay Rd., are held weekly on Tuesday morning led by a Master Birder who will discuss the history and wildlife found in the 50-acre nature preserve. No reservations required. Please gather in the parking lot by 8:30 a.m. Water, binoculars, and insect repellant are recommended. The walks are free to the public, but donations are appreciated.
FREE ADMISSION AND SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE There’s something for every age and interest around every corner, and all are welcome. Start your visit at the Discovery House to pick up a map of the property and information on our exhibits, walks, talks, tours, and more. Our trail system begins behind the museum, and guides you along a path through distinctive environments and many historic structures. As you walk across an historic landscape, enjoy the magnificent live oaks and ancient cedars, take in the view from the boardwalk, see the Marsh Tacky horses grazing in the wide-open fields, and envision what the island was like before it was developed. You’re not on your own with printed resources in your pocket and educational panels throughout the property you’re always in “discovery.”
